So you’d like to learn a little bit more about what a PostuRejuvenation treatment is all about?
These treatments are designed “Rejuvenate Posture” and help us have the best body we can have. They help to bring balance to your body, improving posture, increasing energy, reducing injury, lessening stress and strain and helping to improve performance, flexibilty and resilience.
These treatments are a synergy of many, many techniques that we have learned over 20+ years of study. We have adapted and combined these as we found what was most effective when working with patients. The process combines structural bodywork, rehabilitation- movment and exercise, hellerwork, myofascial release, cranial work, touch for trauma work, orthobionomy, tui na, acupressure and a few more we don’t have room to mention here.
FINDING YOUR INNER RELAXED CONFIDENCE
Experience the relief of longstanding muscle tension and stress in your body during the process of lengthening and balancing the structural alignment and posture of your body. As you are able to relax at a deeper level, aches and pains diminish, and you may find that you are walking around with much less tension throughout your day. Wouldn’t that be nice!
You may find that your flexibility and endurance increase, allowing you to have a well balanced, more graceful, supple and energy-efficient body. Through this inner feeling of relaxed confidence, you may experience more energy to do the things you love to do.
This work can also increase your natural regenerative self-healing ability. With less internal stress, tension and compression, your body’s physiological functions are able to perform better as they were designed to do. This PostuRejuvenation process promotes efficient use of your body helping to prevent overuse and injury, and many of our patients tell us it just makes them feel better and look younger!
WHEN FORM IS RELEASED, RELAXED AND ELONGATED FUNCTIION IS IMPROVED
During a PostuRejuvenation session, Debra carefully and systematically supports the stretching and softening though guiding movement practices and manipulates the muscle and connective tissue system of the body, in order to align your body toward balance, release body stress and enhance the proper physiological function of all systems. This work elongates areas that have become short and contracted and wakes up areas that have been weak or under active – bringing a more erect fluid and flexible posture. This work is guided virtually and can be done as direct hands on and is always followed by easy-to-learn movement techniques that you can incorporate into your everyday activities, so you can experience more efficient and graceful ways to move in your daily life – this helps the results of the sessions to last longer and helps you re-discover your natural artistry of fluid movement and relaxed confidence. These movement awareness techniques also help you accumulate less stress throughout your day as well as to help you continue to let go of stress from your body during your daily activities, leaving you more refreshed at the end of the day.
SO WHAT IS THIS FASCIA? HOW DOES IT AFFECT ME?
Fascia is everywhere in our bodies – it is a complex pattern of connective tissue, which wraps around and supports all of your muscles, bones and organs.
Repeated patterns of imbalanced and inefficient–yet familiar–body movement habits in everyday activities establish an array of compensation patterns, that we have to “operate over” in each activity causing body stress to occur in the connective tissue system. This stress results in parts of our body posture that are weak and soft and other parts that are tight and stiff. Our muscles are constantly having to be “on” and must work overtime to continually keep us standing up straight with the major body blocks in balance. The fascia, which is normally slippery and elastic, becomes thick and hardened. It sticks to itself to create extra strenght in order to support the increased load to the muscles. The result is we feel less energy and more stiffness and body stress.
This body stress is one of the roots of back pain, headaches, arthritis, neck pains, sciatica, and contributes to many many health problems. Untreated, it build up into a stiffening of the joints and to the common “as I am getting older I am getting shorter syndrome”, causing impairment to graceful and efficient movement. Activity that was once easy and enjoyable for us becomes less so because of the greater effort it requires. This is usually interpreted as a natural process called irreversible aging. But this does not have to be so, there is an alternative.
TREATING THW WHOLE BODY AS A RESLILIENT TENSEGRITY STRUCTURE
The PostuRejuvenation structural integration movement and bodywork helps to align your body so that it stands tall and moves with minimum effort. This structural bodywork also promotes better muscle tone and smoother movement quality. Muscle tissues are gently and systematically realigned toward your natural design of balance and symmetry. In fact, it is often said that a whole new sense of your body is experienced. A graceful self-image of confidence, dependability and personal effectiveness is what is now there for others to see. Even casual social contacts may have a different sense with some describing it as an increased self-trust that communicates itself to others as trustworthiness.
PostuRejuvenation Structural Integration is a gentle and profound process. The standard series for adults consists of 10 visits. Sessions are either 50 minute or 75-80 minutes.
